Code of Conduct &
Weapons Policy

These are the rules of the convention. You will not be allowed into the convention without purchasing your ticket, thereby stating your acknowledgement and understanding of the Senshi Con Policies stated below.

Senshi Con reserves the right to ask an individual to leave the convention or refuse entry should he or she violate this code of conduct. Please note that in such cases, a refund for admissions fee will not be granted. It is your responsibility to read and adhere to these policies.

Safety

Safety is the number one priority at Senshi Con. Attendees are expected to behave in a safe manner at all times and follow directions given by Senshi Con staff. Running and horseplay are not allowed. Nor is the use of roller blades, skateboards, or any similar items. If such items are included in a cosplay, they are to be carried but not utilized. All Dena'ina Center policies, as well as Municipality of Anchorage and State laws are to be observed and enforced while attending the event.

Weapons Policy

All Alaska Statutes and Anchorage Municipal Code of Ordinances regarding possessing and/or concealing weapons are to be observed and enforced while attending the event. Any real guns are not permitted at any time during the convention.

Further, all weapons and weapon-like items brought to the convention must be fake and part of the attendee’s costume. These prop weapons must be made of wood, plastic, foam, aluminum foil, or similar material. Metal will not be permitted. Gun replicas must be non-functional and must have an orange tip on the muzzle. Items such as air guns, rifles, etc. are not permitted. Other weapons such as prop kunai or swords must be peace- bonded upon entry. Peace-bonding signifies that you will not draw the weapon (except in the case of posting for a photo), nor use it in any way that could be unsafe or threatening to other attendees. If an inappropriate weapon is brought to Senshi Con, the attendee will be asked to take the inappropriate weapon back to their hotel or vehicle. Failing to follow the guidelines set forth by the convention’s weapons policy may result in your removal from the convention and possible legal action.

Mask Policy

All masks shall be removed upon receiving/purchasing entrance into the convention. No loose glitter or feathers are allowed in the convention center. You are allowed to wear a mask at any other time during the convention. However, Senshi Corp Security may require the removal of your mask during the convention for safety and security. Failure to comply with this policy may result in your denial or removal from the Dena'ina Center and Senshi Con.

Decency and Attire

Keep your conduct PG-13. Swearing and other offensive dialogue should be kept to a minimum, especially while on stage. As a general rule, costumes should cover at least that of a swimsuit, and may not give the illusion of nudity (such as a towel without clear visibility of clothing under it, cotton balls taped to a flesh-colored bodysuit, etc.). If the costume shows too much skin for the pool, then it’s not appropriate for the convention. Shoes must be worn at all times due to hygiene and safety concerns, no exception for costumes will be given at any point. Failure to comply with this policy may result in denial of admission and/or your removal from the Dena'ina Center and Senshi Con.

Harassment and Photography

The Senshi Convention Staff does not tolerate harassment of any type at any of its events. Harassment can take many forms. It may be, but is not limited to, words, signs, offensive jokes, cartoons, pictures, posters, e-mail jokes or statements, pranks, intimidation, physical assaults or contact, or violence. Cosplay is not consent nor any actions towards someone in cosplay should be harassing in any way shape or form.

In accordance with Alaska State Law, harassment of any kind is prohibited at the convention. If you feel you are being harassed by another attendee, report the incident immediately to a Senshi Task Force Staff member. Please behave in a respectful and courteous manner to all staff and attendees. Ask permission before taking a picture. Failure to comply with this policy may result in denial of admission and/or your removal from the Dena'ina Center and Senshi Con.

Cheating and Bribery

Attempts to gain an unfair advantage in a contest, tournament, or another event are prohibited and will be dealt with accordingly. Examples include cheating, bribery, and/or submitting false or otherwise deceptive information on one’s entry form. Failure to comply with this policy may result in denial of admission and/or your removal from the Dena'ina Center and Senshi Con.

Property Damage

Under Anchorage Municipal Code of Ordinance Section 8.20.010, it is unlawful for any person to recklessly or intentionally injure or destroy any real estate (i.e., the building and its fixtures) or personal property not their own. Senshi Con, the Dena'ina Center, and/or individuals may hold you legally and civilly liable for damage you make to the facility, equipment, decorations, and/or personal property. Depending on the monetary value of the item, this may be a Misdemeanor or Felony Offense.  Violation of this policy shall result in your removal from the Dena’ina Center and Senshi Con and possible trespass from future events.

Service Animals

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), privately owned businesses that serve the public, such as restaurants, hotels, retail stores, taxicabs, theaters, concert halls, and sports facilities, are prohibited from discriminating against individuals with disabilities. The ADA requires these businesses to allow people with disabilities to bring their service animals onto the business premises in whatever areas customers are generally allowed. Senshi Con staff are allowed to exclude the animal from the venue if they pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others. For example, any service animal that displays vicious behavior towards other guests or customers may be excluded.

Theft

Theft is defined under Anchorage Municipal Code of Ordinance Section 8.15.010 as “With the intent to deprive another of property or to appropriate property of another to oneself or a third person, the person obtains the property of another”. This also falls under theft of services, which is defined as “a person obtains services known by that person to be available only for compensation by deception, force, threat, or other means to avoid payment for the services.” Theft or attempted theft of another person’s property shall result in dismissal from the convention and possible legal action.

Please note that Senshi Con cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items.

Badges

You must wear your badge for the duration of the convention to show that you have paid admission or are otherwise authorized to be in the convention areas. Security and staff will be conducting “badge checks” from time to time to guard against people attempting to gain entry for free. Fraudulent use of a badge will result in immediate dismissal from the convention, as well as possible legal action.

Minor Policy

Attendees who are 12 years old and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (always defined as any person 18 years old and older and authorized by the parent or local court system). Childcare is not provided by Senshi Con. Children ages 13 to 17 will not need a permission waiver from a parent or guardian to attend the convention. Senshi Con recommends that parent/guardians have their children picked up from the convention no later than 1:00 AM AKST.

Assault

Senshi Con will observe Alaska Statues and Anchorage Municipal Code and Ordinances regarding assault. Senshi Con is a family friendly and safety-oriented event. As such, any type of assault, whether intentional or reckless, will not be tolerated. Breaking this policy is an extreme violation of the Senshi Con Codes of Conduct and shall result in immediate dismissal from the convention, possible trespass from the Hilton Hotel and future Senshi Con events and possible legal action.

Senshi Con reserves the right to ask an individual to leave the convention or refuse entry should he or she violate this code of conduct. Please note that in such cases, a refund for admissions fee will not be granted. It is your responsibility to read and adhere to these policies.
